Probably influenced by my Chinese. No matter the dialect, it’s always “drink soup”.
someone suggested if its a thick soup you eat it, if thin you drink it! I always seem to get round it by saying I am going to ‘have’ some soup
Hm… ok, let’s see-scenario one-imagine if the waitress comes to take your drink order and you say “I think I am gonna have some soup”, lol
Next- imagine actually drinking down a bottle of soup- no, this is just disgusting…
Drinking involves a continuous action, otherwise it’s “sip”, and yes you could sip soup. So- to answer the question-one “eats” their soup with all due respect.
I address my soup as follows: “Dearest soup, get in my belly by whichever method is appropriate for the social situation.”
