Saba (mackerel) grilled with soy sauce, and served with rice and black sesame seeds. Wasabi mayo potato salad, roasted mini nasu and onions in miso butter and accidental tamagoyaki* on the side.
*Accidental because I managed to crack 5 eggs putting them away right before dinner.
Oriental melon. Has the texture of pear, slightly sweet.
Apparently well known traditional melon – the woman next to me at the Farmer’s Market was all “natzukashii” (nostalgic) about them.

I am a freak for tater salad — adding wasabi sounds like it would make it pretty hardcore! How much does one use?
Ah! “accidental” is the BEST! may I have some pleeeease. I don’t know how to make that. The mellon looks a like casaba somewhat, natzukashii=verklempt yes?
Actually the wasabi mayo is pre-mixed – you should check your local Asian grocery for it! Not very strong.
Natzukashii means nostalgic – something that makes you think of the past. Usually a positive thing.
