A Summer Feast

G and I went to the farmers market today and picked up a bunch of yummy things both for tonight and later. From that we made the lovely dinner you see above: purple mashed potatoes with the skin on, mixed with herbed fromage blanc from the Cowgirl Creamery.

T slow cooked some boneless beef ribs, first in the oven, then on the BBQ, and I prepared a gravy/sauce with a whole bunch of fresh morel mushrooms, fresh sage from the garden, ramps and cream.

The salad, on the other hand, was the first of the season from the garden! Arugula and romaine lettuce and radishes all grown here at Casa del Queso, with other stuff from the farmers market, and another home-made pesto vinaigrette over the top. Dessert was a mix of tasty fresh strawberries and nectarines, macerated with mint and yuzu syrup and served with vanilla ice cream.

And, not the least, since I give Peter such a hard time about his Pimms, we polished off a couple bottles of Gundlach-Bundschu ’06 Mountain Cuvée.
