I Yam What I Yam

I had some yams sitting around, that I never got around to cooking for Thanksgiving, and figured I’d better use them up. None of your candied marshmallow affairs for this girl. I’ll take a bake, Jake, but the best yam management technique in my book is to scrub ’em, halve ’em, boil ’em. butter ’em, salt ’em, pepper’ em, and eat ’em. So that’s what I had for dinner tonight.

No picture, but for your delectation I now present Miss Ginger Rogers doing “The Yam” in 1938.

  1. i have embedded the video for easier enjoyment. may i also suggest the addition of any kind of citrus with your yams- lemon or orange juice or zest have always enhanced my yam/sweet potato enjoyment.

  2. OK, I took your suggestions preparing the leftover yams for tonight. I sliced them into medallions and baked them in a lemon-ginger balsamic vinaigrette. It was really good.
