T telephoned early this afternoon after having gone to CostCo with G and picked up some flank steaks prepared with bacon, and suggested that an early evening BBQ would be a good idea, and J & I were easily swayed. (What is it about Indian summer and BBQs?) They came by late in the afternoon, before the sun set, and while T fired up the grill, I got out my mandoline in the kitchen and crinkle cut some purple potatoes, and sliced up half a red onion and let them marinate in olive oil with garlic and salt and ground pepper, with fresh rosemary from the garden.
In the kitchen, T prepped zucchini and yellow summer squash and mushrooms, and then, while he cooked the steak on the grill outside, G sautéed them on the stove while I roasted the potatoes in the oven until they were crispy. J prepared a simple salad of romaine lettuce with chopped green onions and croutons, with Caesar dressing over the top. Everyone had red wine with dinner, ’cept me; I had oolong tea with mine.
