The husband and I went to eat a fairly new-ish place on La Brea in LA called Goat. For you Southlanders — give it a try. I think they need the help, as it was only us for supper.
We started with a glass of Pinot and apps of flash fried goat cheese and figs (oh.my.god. so rich and so delicious). I had salmon over a potato pancake and garlicky spinach. It was cooked to perfection. The husband had pork chops over grilled potatoes and apple. We finished the meal with a cherry goat cheese bread pudding and coffee and were stuffed after a few bites each.
Goat is a very casual neighborhood restaurant from the mind behind Malo and Cobras & Matadors. I really enjoyed myself, although I think we ordered too richly. The menu features some interesting salad combinations using grapfruit, watermelon, and various greens. As well, as the house specialty of goat carnitas.
We will definitely be back. It was divine.
